Un arbuste ou un petit arbre. Il mesure 14 m de haut. Il peut atteindre 20-25 m de haut. Le tronc peut mesurer entre 50 et 60 cm de diamètre. Il garde ses feuilles tout au long de l'année. Les jeunes rameaux sont légèrement en zigzag et ont des ailes. Les feuilles sont vert foncé et brillantes sur la face supérieure. Ils sont d'un vert terne en dessous. Les feuilles sont ovales et se rétrécissent en une courte pointe. Le fruit a un calice rouge ou une couche charnue autour de lui qui est divisé en cinq parties.
