Un arbuste ou un petit arbre à feuilles persistantes. Il atteint 6 m de haut. Le tronc est court. La couronne est étroite. Les branches sont épaisses et étalées. L'écorce est brun foncé et se fissure. Les feuilles mesurent 18 à 35 cm de long sur 5 à 9 cm de large. Ils sont regroupés près des extrémités des brindilles. Ils sont vert foncé et en forme d'épée. Il y a de fines dents le long du bord. Les fleurs sont blanches ou roses et mesurent 1 cm de diamètre. Ils sont en grappes courtes de 3 à 15 fleurs.
