Description :
Une herbe de la famille du gingembre avec un rhizome qui sent les mangues vertes. Les rhizomes sont jaune pâle à l'intérieur. Il a de fortes talles ou coureurs et le rhizome ou la tige souterraine est gonflé et charnu. Il est rampant et ramifié. Il a plusieurs racines tubéreuses. Les feuilles sont alternes et forment 2 séries. Ils sont vert foncé et brillants mais plus clairs en dessous. Ils mesurent 15 à 95 cm de long sur 5 à 20 cm de large. Les pousses fleuries sont sur le côté du rhizome avec de longues tiges et un épi. La tige mesure de 5 à 25 cm de long et l'épi de 10 à 20 cm de long sur 4 à 9 cm de large. Il y a des bractées feuillues colorées. Les fleurs sont minces avec une gorge étroite{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
