Une herbe. Elle peut pousser pendant 2 ou plusieurs années. Il pousse de 60 à 90 cm de hauteur. Les feuilles sont divisées ou ont de grandes dents. Ils sont hérissés sur les veines en dessous. Les feuilles près de la base sont en forme d'épée engraissées et mesurent 7 à 20 cm de long. Ils se rétrécissent à la base à une courte tige de feuille. Les feuilles plus haut enserrent la tige. La fleur est jaune vif.
