Un palmier solitaire. Il atteint 16 m de haut. Le tronc mesure 30 cm de diamètre. La couronne des feuilles est large et ronde. Les feuilles mortes pendent sous les feuilles vivantes. Les feuilles mesurent 5 à 6 m de long. Ils sont sur de courtes tiges de feuilles robustes. Il existe un grand nombre de brochures. Ils poussent en petits groupes et souvent sous des angles légèrement différents. Les folioles au centre mesurent entre 60 et 100 cm de long. Les folioles sont la base et la pointe est plus courte.
