Un petit arbre. Il perd ses feuilles au cours de l'année. Il peut commencer par pousser sur d'autres arbres. L'écorce est gris verdâtre et se détache. Les feuilles sont grandes. Ils sont disposés en opposition ou en anneaux. Les feuilles mesurent 15-20 cm de long sur 8 cm de large. Les fleurs se produisent individuellement aux extrémités des branches.
