Un arbuste bas ou un petit arbre. Il atteint 1 à 6 m de haut. L'écorce est grise tachetée et lisse. Les feuilles sont alternes et simples. Ils sont ovales et mesurent 1,5 à 7,5 cm de long sur 0,5 à 4 cm de large. Ils sont coriaces et vert grisâtre. Les jeunes feuilles sont couvertes de poils ressemblant à des toiles d'araignée. Les feuilles matures sont brillantes. Les bords sont dentés. Les fleurs sont en têtes ressemblant à des marguerites. Ceux-ci sont jaune vif et mesurent 4 cm de diamètre. Ils peuvent être isolés ou en petits groupes à l'aisselle des feuilles ou près des extrémités des branches. Les fleurs peuvent être des deux sexes ou femelles seulement. Le fruit est rond et charnu. Ils mesurent 6 mm de diamètre. Ils sont violets à maturité. Ils sont disposés autour du bord du réceptacle. Plusieurs sous-espèces sont présentes.
