Une herbe. Elle a souvent de nombreuses branches. Il pousse environ 1 m de haut. Les feuilles ont des tiges ailées d'environ 0,5 à 6 cm de long. Le limbe de la feuille est en forme de D ou d'épée et mesure 3 à 12 cm de long sur 1,5 à 9 cm de large. Il se rétrécit dans la tige des feuilles à la base.
