Une petite herbe annuelle. Il se trouve le long du sol ou se courbe vers le haut. Il mesure 10-20 cm de haut. Les tiges sont à 4 angles et se ramifient près de la base. Les feuilles sont en forme de coin et épaisses et charnues. Ils peuvent être disposés en alternance, à l'opposé ou en anneaux ou en verticilles. Les feuilles inférieures ont des tiges tandis que les feuilles supérieures n'ont pas de tiges. Les fleurs sont petites mais dans de grands arrangements.
