Les jeunes feuilles sont vert pâle et les vieilles feuilles sont vert foncé. Les feuilles sont brillantes dessus et souvent velues dessous. La tige de la feuille mesure 2 cm de long. Les fleurs mâles et femelles sont séparées. Les fleurs sont blanches ou jaune verdâtre et portées en petites grappes arrondies. Les fleurs mâles sont très petites. Les fleurs ont une odeur aigre. Le fruit est lisse, jaune et de la taille d'une petite orange mais avec une pointe à la fin. Il mesure 5 à 8 cm de large. Il a une peau fine et 1 à 5 graines à l'intérieur.
