Un arbre élancé. Il atteint une hauteur de 5 à 10 m. La feuille entière mesure de 15 à 35 cm de long et est profondément divisée en lobes. Parfois, les lobes sont à nouveau divisés. Les fleurs sont rouges avec un style qui ressort. Ils mesurent 2-3,5 cm de long. Il y a de nombreuses fleurs disposées le long d'une tige de 5 à 15 cm de long. Celles-ci se produisent près des extrémités des branches. Le fruit est lisse et rond. Il est ligneux et mesure de 2,5 à 3,5 cm de diamètre.
