        Un arbuste ou un petit arbre. Il atteint 10 m de haut mais peut atteindre 15 à 25 m de hauteur. Le tronc peut mesurer entre 50 et 60 cm de diamètre. Il existe de nombreuses branches. Les branches sont épineuses. Ceux-ci sont par paires et mesurent 4 à 10 mm de long. Les jeunes feuilles sont généralement rougeâtres. Les feuilles sont composées deux fois de quatre folioles. Il y a une petite colonne vertébrale entre les feuillets. Les fleurs sont blanc verdâtre en capitules denses arrondis d'environ 1 cm de diamètre. Les gousses sont souvent tordues en spirale. Ils mesurent 10 à 18 cm de long et sont rouges à maturité. Ils mesurent environ 1 cm de large et contiennent 6 à 8 graines noires brillantes entourées d'un arille ou d'une pulpe charnue blanche à rouge. Les graines sont aplaties et mesurent 9 mm de long sur 7 mm de large et 2 mm d'épaisseur{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
